Why I Created the HeART School

A few years ago, the CFO of a major development group in Austin, a millionaire, a caring, thoughtful, great husband and good looking dude... walked out of an art class I was sitting in on. He left his painting. His wine (he always brought wine). His paints. His easel. Everything. And never came back.  THIS GUY. A guy who was literally success embodied. Who was for all intents and purposes, winning at LIFE. This guy was so traumatized by a painting class he couldn't even bear to clean up or say goodbye. Can you relate to this? You were super excited to...

Magic Story Alert

Have you ever wondered what goes on in one of Becca's classes? Here is just one magic story she shared recently:  "At last night’s Drawing for Comfort session, one of the participants shared she was healing from a recent hip replacement surgery. Perfect time for some comforting art, right? The first slide shows marks that emerged as she engaged with soothing styles of drawing. Success

Success

Here’s some of the folks who supported me when I was starting out. No cool client resume. No portfolio. If I’m being honest... not a tremendous amount of knowledge. I literally wouldn’t work for myself today if it weren’t for them. Who are your people?**@thetober co-owner of @nickelcityatx is one of the first to put my name into small biz circles of Austin. He is so respected in Austin F&B, people hired me simply because of his recommendation.**That led to two of my first chalkboard commissions at @churrocoaustin and @rooseveltroomatx. These gems and their owners let me build experience alongside their respected brands, always giving me...

Introducing: The HeART School

Introducing: The HeART School

When I taught Elementary Art, I learned more about being an artist from five year olds than I did from all my studio college courses combined. That kid-wisdom is the foundation of the adult group and corporate creative classes I teach today. My style of teaching isn’t FOR everyone but it’s specifically designed to REACH anyone that has an interest in reconnecting with the natural and judgment free art processes of their childhood. I used to “worry” people wouldn’t take me seriously teaching creative intuition and feeling over technique. Then two years ago I got a contract teaching engineers at Facebook. It...
